Check-in Timer
If you don't check in, the alert goes out β even if your phone can't.
Some places you walk into alone, with no one watching. The Check-in Timer is your safety net: set a countdown before you go in, and as long as you check in, nothing happens. Miss it, and Safella alerts your trusted contacts with your last known location.
The part that matters most: the deadline lives on Safella's servers, not just your phone. So even if your battery dies, your phone is taken, or the app is force-closed, the alert still goes out on time. (It's sometimes called a 'dead man's switch' β safety that doesn't depend on you being able to act.)
How it works
- 1
Set your timer
Choose an interval β 15, 30, 60, or 120 minutes β and who gets alerted if you don't check in.
- 2
Check in to reset
A reminder prompts you before time runs out. One tap on 'I'm safe' resets the countdown β all quiet, nobody is alerted.
- 3
Miss it, and help is called
No check-in means an automatic SOS to your contacts with your live location β sent server-side, so it fires even if your phone can't.
When you'd use it
- Meeting someone from an app for the first time
- A late shift, a solo hike, or getting home alone
- Any situation where you might not be able to reach your phone
- When you want a safety net that works even if your phone doesn't
